If you type

   kpsewhich -var-value TEXMF

What do you get?  How about

   kpsewhich gregoriotex.sty

?

It looks like it built properly and was installed into /opt/local/share/texmf-local. If the above statements find it there, then there's something weird with the environment being used by the editor compared to the environment from the command line. Unfortunately, I don't have the experience with those editors to give you better advice on how to set them up.

I know Br. Samuel uses those editors, so maybe he can help.
