Well, I admit I still didn't look at new gsp-default, and I don't know how much is spacing difference between a syllable with music and a syllable with a bar, but it depends on how a syllable/text with nothing above is treated: it's spaced as text with no music or as text with no bar?
An empty set of parentheses is treated as music, not a bar (i.e. it puts `\GreSyllable` in the gtex not `\GreBarSyllable`). This difference would be most visible (in the new bar spacing algorithm) in the case where the notes from the previous syllable extended out beyond the end of the text for said syllable (or the notes for the next syllable started way before the text, a much rarer occurence). Attached are two small pics showing the difference.
Which would be the preferred behavior? ✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝✝ Br. Samuel, OSB St. Anselm’s Abbey Washington, DC (R. Padraic Springuel) PAX ☧ ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ
