This is a feature I also really need and miss from the older growl.  I  am 
running 10.7 and the newest version of Growl (or at least the one you buy 
from the App Store).  How do I build it myself so it's running 1.4 and so I 
can switch to the app I'm clicking on?  It works for some of my apps, but 
not all of them.  I really need it to work with the livechat app:
