If I recall correctly, Colloquy is one of those apps that put in a
hardcoded check between 10.8 for Notification Center, and Growl on
older OS's, instead of using our newer frameworks built in NC support
that will switch to Growl if its installed and running, they instead
left in a pretty out of date framework.
