I have the same problem (also running Ubuntu 12.04), except that while trying to save in Chrome, I get exactly the same message that Magnus (and I) gets in Firefox. Since I haven't updated mGSD for a while, the problem seems to be created by some Ubuntu/Firefox update. (I was never able to save mGSD in Chrome, don't remember what the message was).
