Once, back in the days just after the switch and when I still had time
to work on the project I wanted to add a "make properties" target. I
took a look at the build files and felt completely lost. It was easy
for me to add something quickly to Makefile.am, since I was used to
that. But since I didn't the time to read up on the tools, this is just
my personal feelings about the switch.

I do not want to restart any discussion about your decision. I still
have enough time to make comments when I actually should have time again
to contribute something else then the occasional comment.
