Ah, ok. There's no way for X11 to emit any beep here, so I usually forget
that sending a warning to the status bar causes a beep.

Maybe "aishite iru" or "suki da" works better? I guess for Japanese it
would be optimal if romaji could match kana and vice-versa. I don't know
whether that's reasonable though.

Yes, I added the warning first and fixed the original bug later. It
should be impossible to trigger this warning unless you can enter
something which is converted to nothing or iconv() cannot handle the
entered string (GTK+ 1.2 only).
