Don't worry about the size for now. You might want avoid themes using gradients when making screenshots. JPEG artifacts look very ugly IMHO. In GIMP (or cjpeg) you can use the "progressive" option for JPEGs which reduces the size a bit without reducing the quality. > I left things in the DocBook format. If you prefer, LaTeX could be used for the same purpose. Personally, I wouldn't mind a reasonable subset of HTML either. After all that's what we're going to use and there are tools like htmldoc to convert HTML to PDF. > However, if the PDF version isn't useful and there > is no plan to integrate this with GTKG (like the FAQ), then maybe a > straight HTML distribution would be better? I don't know how useful a PDF version is but if it's easy to generate, we can put it on the website. The tarballs should contain the generated HTML files because generating them during the installation would be problematic. The HTML files will also be put on the website of course. I would of course prefer if the manual was integrated into the GUI as well. The FAQ was more or less an experiment and needs some polish. For example, I want to preserve the chapter structure not just some large page you have to scroll through and get lost in. Though I don't think it's much of a problem if you have to read the documentation in a browser for now. -- Christian ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
