I've seen it for the last two weeks or so, occasionally.  It's been  
masked by the other problems, and I hadn't yet seen it happen to a  
build that I was confident was clean, fresh, and recent enough that I  
could be sure it was a problem that wasn't due to failing to start  
the compile from scratch, and that hadn't been addressed.

Here's another backtrace;  it just crashed with only six items  
selected, with GTKG up for 5:50.
The problem can't be specifically reproduced, and is definitely  
intermittent, but it seems to only occur when selecting multiple items.
It appears that somehow I failed to leave off the assertion failure  
part last time.  I have no memory of whether or not I saw it.
