I felt those same frustrations for three years of ownership. On my early '93
ECU I finally set the pots to the 1 o'clock position as recommended by a
fellow GTS rider who had done some experimentation and it TRANSFORMED the
machine! Finally! The surging wasn't totally gone, but 75% was eliminated.
All that remained was the small surge when the bike was stone cold. I
adjusted the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) to place that in the lower RPM
range so that it was almost unnoticeable. I now have a bike that, when warm,
is smooth as silk! I also discovered the 120/70 front tire recommendation
about the same time, so with the steering effort suddenly reduced too I fell
in love all over again with my GTS.
