Umbro Reveals New Sunderland 2011/12 Home Football Shirt Posted: 16 May 2011 02:00 AM PDT Well after another season of ups and downs Sunderland supporters have a striking new Home football shirt to wear when cheering on the Black Cats for another season in the Premiership at the Stadium of Light. The new-look Home football kit, which again is part of the ‘Tailored by Umbro’ range, is already proving to be popular among followers of the North East outfit, keeping with the red and white stripes that have made the Sunderland Home shirt an institution. Made from lightweight and supremely comfortable polyester material, the Black Cats have moved away from last season’s design (which featured a red collar) to a black v-neck design. The main chest area maintains the classic red & white stripes and the shirt is complemented by black trim around the end of the sleeves. Club sponsors ‘tombola’ have maintained their logo emblazoned across the chest. Umbro have added a red, white and black trim on the back of the neck, to add some detail to the shirt, while the Sunderland Club crest is embroidered on the left of the chest The main problem when looking over these new versions of a classic shirt (if i’m honest), is that there isn’t a huge amount of difference in this shirt to the shirt that Niall Quinn wore when he was playing! However, if your a fan it really doesn’t matter, you still want to be wearing the same top as your hero’s! After a season of change at the stadium of Light it was nice to see some of Steve Bruce’s big signings do well, particularly players like Adidas F50 Wearer Asamoah Gyan. But it was a shame that England strike partner Darren Bent was leaving for Aston Villa in the January Transfer Window.
