Owen Hargreaves to Wolves & Patrick Vieira to Swansea on a Free? Posted: 17 Jun 2011 09:50 AM PDT One of the best things about this time of the year is the ongoing transfer talk that you see in the paper every day, especially with Liverpool & Manchester United signing England under 21 players for multi million pound deals. But for every high end purchase there are always a few bargains to be had out there, with the Premier League releasing a list of all the players that have been deemed surplus to requirements! You can understand that West Ham, Birmingham & Blackpool will want to cut there wage bill having been relegated to the Championship. However, Patrick Viera was a bit of a shock for me, as I thought that he had a pretty good season with Manchester City and was happy to be a squad player in the Premier League and the FA Cup, even if he had just been signed on for another season to help bring other players through. But then again, I dont know what sort of wage demands Viera was on but maybe they are clearing the decks for a few more Manchester Galctico’s to come in. When I looked down the list, I could (on paper) get a free team that I think would hold its own in the Premiership next season: GK – Marcus Hahnemann DEF – Ricardo Gardner, Matthew Upson, Jonathan Woodgate Holding Mid-Owen Hargreaves (C) MID – Sebastian Larsson, Nigel Reo-Coker, Patrick Vieira, David Jones ATT – Eidur Gudjohnsen, John Carew I think the most notable move has to be Owen Hargreaves from Manchester United, who cost £17 Million from Bayern Munich in 2007. I know that on field time over the last two seasons has been at a minimum due to injuries but you can bet Alex Ferguson will be gutted next season if Owen Hargreaves signs for a Champions League team and plays 90% of their games injury free!!!!!
