"Soul Shakers" - Expatriate s favourite music group are all set to give their best rendition for the Goa Day 2004 mega event in Kuwait. As an added attraction for the children as well as the adults, there will be Nizar Kadambari s "Illusion & Magic Show". More surprises and DJ music to keep you entertained with Lloyd D Souza as the compere.
The Konkani stage artists have a "Cultural Programme" of Konkani skits, songs (solo, duo and trios)and the youngsters will show their skills at both the Goan folklore as well as choreographed dance items.
Mr. P.M. Thomas, First Secretary (E&P), Embassy of India has kindly consented to be the chief guest for the occasion, and the visiting Member of Parliament (South Goa), Mr. Churchill Braz Alemao will be the guest of honour.
The GWS Educational Awards 2004-05 will be distributed at the hands of the GWS patron, Mr. & Mrs. Sam Alphonso to the toppers among the Goan students of Std. X and Std. XII of the CBSE Board (New Delhi) among the 10 Indian schools in Kuwait.
The Goan Welfare Society (GWS) since 1995 have organized the "Goa Day" annual event with pride. This year the participating Goan clubs/organizations include: Goan Overseas Association, United Club of Utorda, Chinchinim Villagers, Kala Mogui Kuwait, Kuwait-Goa Tiatristanchi Sonvstha, Navelim Youth Centre, The Entertainment & Cultural Society, Bombay Boys Sports Club, CRC Chinchinim, Crystal Focus Club, Konkani Heritage Kuwait, United Friends Club, Curtorcares United, Colva United Centre, Kuwait Konkani Kendr, Santos Football Club, among others.
The venue is the "new" fully airconditioned Marina Party Hall (Auditorium), adjacent to the Touristic Enterprises Gardens, just a few metres opposite Indian Central School, Jleeb Shuyouk. Take the 6th Ring Road, and turn left under the flyover bridge towards Jleeb Shuyouk (Abbasiya), continue 30 metres and take the right "U" turn, keep left and you reach the venue (end of the road) and the Petrol/Gas Station .
The winners of the recently held Drawing and Essay competitions - as part of the Goa Day 2004 programme - will be awarded the prizes and certificates at the hands of the chief guest and the guest of honour.
Kuwait s popular Konkani stage artists have voluntered to take part in support of their affiliated Goan clubs/associations namely: Cajetan de Sanvordem-Marcus Vaz-Mario de Majorda (Kuwait Trio Kings), Rosary Ferns-Querobina Carvalho-Sanny de Kepem, Jonathan Fernandes-Clifford Pereira-Terence Gracias (Kuwait Young Trio), Francis de Verna, Sylvester Vaz, Comedian Nelson, Michael D Silva, Gracy Moraies, Anthony Carr, Manuel de Santa Cruz, Martinho Martins, Joseph Rodrigues, Laurie M., Clara Rodrigues, Bab Agnelo, Zoroster Coelho, Graham Rodrigues, Olavo D Silva, Conchita Cardozo, Braz de Parra, Nelson Fernandes and Sylvester Barretto. The enchanting music to be provided by "The Goan Origin" band led by Maestro Sucorro along with Dennis, Faustinho, Max, Philip, and Tony.
Lots of spot prizes, surprises and a raffle is in store. The food stalls and the games stalls will be providing you authentic Goan delicacies throughout the day. Professional security, ample free car parking, and full cooperation of all the participating Goan clubs/organizations ensure that all our guests get the best of the traditional Goan hospitality for Goa Day 2004.
