Mumbai Catholics Hail Cardinal Ratzinger as Pope Benedict XVI , worthy successor to John Paul 11 The Great.
"The five lakh Catholics of Mumbai welcomes the election of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger as our new Pope , Benedict the XVI and assure him of our loyalty, support and prayers as the Holy Father." said Mr. Dolphy D'Souza President of Bombay Catholic Sabha in a press statement today.
"Pope Benedict XVI was a close associate of the late Pope John Paul II and will surely continue the legacy and the policies for the health and growth of the Church throughout the world. He has seen the war at close quarters as a youth and also a life under tyranny. Hence, he will surely speak for the marginalized sections of society and uphold the dignity and freedom of individuals." he predicted.
"People of India have a great hope in the new Holy Father and that he will intervene with the developed nations and speak about the feelings and the needs of the people of Asia with much vigor. We look forward to the Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI to lead the Church and His people into a more dynamic phase of involvement in the world affairs and in the lives of the people around." he further said.
