Its quite alright, Tim. Some people do have trouble ocmprehending.
Dont worry about it. I realize its a difficult to grasp the concept that we
do not "need" to use card readers, some of us choose to and why is really
immaterial. Just as the fact that you use a mac is immaterial.

No, I'm not in that mode, but just to set you straight the mac I'm running
is running USB 2.0. Secondly where did you get the idea that I was saying
someone should use one or the other. I'll say it again because apparently
you people have a problem comprehending what you read. I asked why someone
needed to use a card reader when the USB transfer worked fine on the
booksense. Then I said that the problem you guys were having could be in
your USB ports because on my computer I wasn't having that problem. Then
you all started to go nuts. Well, I'll just leave you with this. Obviously
I must have a faster processor then most of you or I'd be having some of the
same problems you'll seem to be having transfering with USB. No, I'm not in
a mac verses windows mode, because I don't believe in that kind of
sillyness, I just forgot that most of you people are probably running at a
slower processor speed then I am.

Who is having trouble transfering files to their Booksense? I did not

one said that we do. Its been stated that using a card reader is faster.
You are using a mac so you may well be running at usb 1.1 speeds, who
knows. And really, its pointless to discuss this further. An observation
was made and that is all. Sounds to me like you are in a mac vs pc mood.

I think I just originally asked why you needed to use a card reader with
the booksense and then I stated that on my computer using the booksense
with USB I didn't see any real slowdown in speed of transfer. If that's
fighting with people then so be it. Personally I think you guys are way
too touchy.

Hello. From many people's experience, using an SD card reader has been
traditionally faster than using the BookSense, or other USB device
directly. If this is not the case with your computer, that's all good.
The discussion of which is faster and which is slower is rather silly and
brings to mind a, "mine is bigger" than yours," contest which is rather
pointless to keep debating. On the 2 systems I've tried, I can usually
copy many files faster if I copy them directly to a card via a card
reader instead of copying them to the SD card while it's inserted in the
BookSense. The same is true for Victor Reader Stream users and with many
camera users. So regardless of your speeds, it doesn't mean anything is
wrong with anyone's systems just because individual experiences may be
different.
Many thanks.

Must be, but if you think there is really a big difference, I won't

Then there must be something wrong with your computer. You must be
using USB 1.X ports because with 2.0 your incorrect.

Why do you use the card reader to transfer files to the booksense?
USB works just fine on the booksense, even with Apple computers.

Activating the BookSense is easy. You just download the software
from Audible, connect the BS with the long USB cable, go to devices
in Audible Manager and choose activate. The only inconvenience is
connecting the BookSense to the PC. I always transfer files using a
card reader.

Hi all.
Just to clarify. A while back, on another list, it was mentioned
that in order to play an audible book on the book sense or any other
player used to play NLS books the book had to be converted. That is
why I asked. I didn't/don't plan on doing anything illegal to play
a book on one of these players etc. I love my book sense and the
bard sight to much to jeopardize anything. *smile*
I'll try activating my book sense as an audible player later.
Thanks for letting me know that had to be done first. Once done,
you could just paste the audible books in the audio books folder
right?
