I hthink you might have it backwards. The left/right arrows change the
increment you can move, and the up/down arrows will move to  the time
option where you can use the left/right arrows to move by the time
increment that you set. If that makes sense. Since these are audio
recorded books, you won't be able to spell the words or move by letter
like you can in text based books.
