I would have to agree about the fan rebbing up. My work computer has been doing that for a while. Today, the computer just tried to start over and over. Our tech guy is pretty good. He took the computer and cleaned it. He said the cpu fan was full of dust and the computer was over heating. He cleaned the computer and its working again. This computer is about five years old.

My desktop pc has two cooling fans, and the secondary fan only revs up when I power the computer on from a dead stop. Could be your power supply connection to the fan is corroded or the fan itself is spinning its last. Or worse. I have been using Eloquence since 2001, and the only quirk I have observed over the years, that even comes close to what you described, is that on long passages with no punctuation, the pitch, not the speed, gradually drops to a low growl, then, as Shannon described it, Eloquence "takes a breath" and picks up again at the set file's pitch setting. Subject: Explaining Eloquence Issues I find Eloquence very responsive overall with beta 2. Could be a bit faster when up and down-arrowing, but very good overall. No lockups or crashes. The only issue I am having is that Eloquence still occasionally drags down while reading, elongating words in a very choppy manner. I often hear my computer fan accelerate briefly when this happens. If I wait long enough, Eloquence will resume reading normally. If I tap the control key, I can almost always resume reading immediately with no apparent sluggishness. I cannot give steps to reproduce this behavior reliably. Thanks.
