Well, it is not advise to do so if your worried about the warranty. But, yes, I take all my screen off my laptops and save between thirty to a hour of run time
Heck, I got a Acer 9300 model that I did that with and get over 4 hours run time on the thing. And that is running Vista. But that is another story on it own. I know if you go buy a laptop from Beyond sight or something can't remember the web site, any way, that is all they do is remove the screen on their laptops when they sell them. And yet you pay for the full price of a laptop. Now not sure if they changed it but, last I remember they were still doing that. Just make sure you are able to restore the thing with out sighted help. I have an asus eeepc 100h which is the hard drive version. Works perfectly with we. Had no issues at all installing it or running it afterwards. This thing is fast and you can't beat it for the price. the right shift key is in a bit of a strange place but for a portable for trips hotels etc, can't be beat for the price. I don't like it quite as much as my macbook which also has we in a virtual machine but itis smaller and I am less attached so wouldn't be heart broken if this thing got stolen.
