It automatically reads chat messages. You are informed who is Calling and the status of your contacts. Other scripts that enhance your Windows experience is the jump to items script. This script provides access to list boxes and list views that do not allow for first letter navigation. an example application is the add and remove programs control panel under Windows XP. Another great script that provides increased accessibility to a program is the list focusable control script. So if you have a program that has controls that are not necessarily in the tab order. This script gives you a quick and easy means of locating and moving to the control you require. The list just goes on and on so to evaluate the concept of scripting, based upon the one script alone is rather shortsighted and unfair. Thank you for reading. I hope this helps. -----Original Message----- From: Juan Hernandez [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, January 20, 2009 5:57 AM To: 'Darren Harris'; [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: RE: Observations about the Concept of the Script This may be right at times, but take the winamp scripts, these scripts are an amazing addition to those of us that use winamp. Yes you will find bugs, but I have never found them to make the application unstable. And the winamp author strives to keep up with problems, and he does a great job of it. That's just my opinion. Have a great day. -----Original Message----- From: Darren Harris [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, January 20, 2009 5:47 AM To: [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: RE: Observations about the Concept of the Script Hi, Oh I just turn the scripts off, since I moved over from jaws to wineyes, I found that I just didn't need them. Also I think that overall to many scripts make what ever programme that you're using unstable in the long run. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 20 January 2009 13:40 To: [email protected] Subject: Observations about the Concept of the Script Back when JAWS had scripts and Window-Eyes did not, one of the arguments posed against scripting, and an argument that was used loudly and often, was that scripts would be used to add functionality that was never intended for a screen reader. I find it interesting, therefore, that now that Window-Eyes has implemented scripting, one of the most talked-about scripts is one which goes to a site on the Internet and returns weather forecasts and conditions. Many of the same people who use this script regularly and rave about it are the same people who accused JAWS users of wanting non-screen-reader-related functionality. To me, this all seems very ironic. Thank you.--D.K. If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
