A net book is a very small version of a laptop, usually 10" screen and small keyboard. They do not come with an in built optical drive, so they are also very lightweight. Normally they come with 1gb RAM, and about a 120gb hard disk. They are predominantly meant to be used for on the move communications and internet, so e mail, internet surfing, skype, MSN etc. They run with an atom processer, which is fast enough for what you need to do on a net book, and yes, they will also run MS Office and Window-eyes. Standards are blue tooth, wireless and 2 USB ports. Designed to work with wireless peripherals.
Come in at around £250 or the equivilant in dollars. I like the Toshiba and DELL models also, and usually would use an external optical drive, external hard disk and dock station with monitor for home use.
