I have an asus and like it very much. The keys are smaller, and
because there are fewer keys than on a standard PC there is some
learning of new key combinations. The only thing i don't like about
the Asus keyboard is the placement of the right shift key which
requires stretching the right pinky. When learning the keyboard, the
WE key describe mode is your friend. The only thing i did was to
bump the included 1 GB RAM up to 2 GB. I obtained a 2 GB Kingston
memory chip from amazon.com for $23. Unless you are really handy,
you will probably need sighted assistance to install the chip. To me
it functions every bit as well as my dell laptop or my desktop PC's.

Hi Andy,
Do you have a netbook? If so, what kind do you have? I was really sorry to
hear the negative report about the Dell. I really like Dell computers. I
think that I would like a netbook for reading audiobooks on the computer,
watching movies from Mice Mart, watching some TV channels that are not
available to me through my cable company and streaming internet radio. I
don't think that you can do any of those things with the Voice Sense.

Subject: Re: Netbooks
Hi Paulette,
Keep in mind that the vast majority of netbooks currently run Windows XP
Home, and after october 22, they will probably come with Windows 7. window
Eyes will perform on a netbook the same way that it would perform on any
other Windows computer. Most netbooks have the same guts, usually an Intel
Atom processor, 1 GB RAM, and a 120 or 160 GB HD. The difference is really
ook and feel. For many, the keyboard is the most important concern. The
best thing that you can do is to go to a computer store and put your hands
on some of them, and check out things like the size and placement of keys.
my experience has been that if you don't like the keyboard, you probably
won't use the machine much. Of course, you could always plug in a standard
USB keyboard, but that would negate the biggest advantage to netbooks,
namely, their portability.
