I have a coupole of USB/Serial adapters here, and can confirm, that one works, the other doesn't. And, one works with this equipment, the other did work fine with some other equipment. Not sure, why this happens, but I get the feeling, often it is a matter of having the up-to-date driver. And, in many cases, this can be rather challenging, as the converter comes with a CD, and that is just about what you have for drivers. At least, a couple of cases, I have been unable to find drivers on the net, so if your converter is a few yeqars old, well, there you are :)

This is not only with the serial converters. I have the same challenge with my Braille printer, which runs on the Parallel port, and neeeds to connect to a modern Laptop, with only usb ports. I sometimes, do wonder, if a PCMCIA to serial/Paralel converter would be nice, but guess we are into the same challenge - one working just fine, the other is only for collection ...

I have tried a number of USB to serial adapters that do not work with the
lt, and other hardware synths and displays that use serial ports. is it
possible to know what people use?

Hey all,

this is good. however,:
*can you use it on a 64bit system?
*can you use it on a system without serial ports?
*how much is the USB to serial adapter?
*is there a size difference?

there were many reasons that the triple talk was invented. if the double
talk is still usable, that is great, for now. however the question needs
to
be asked, how long will it be usable?

Hello,

Shortly after it came on the market, I purchased a DecTalk USB. I
didn't like the speech either, and I returned it after 24 hours.
You can now purchase a DoubleTalk LT from RC Systems for only
$212.00. I'm not saying the speech is the greatest, but just think
of the money you're saving. Go to:
