Evelyn,

I egree with you. I have a list on freelists and one thing I don't like is that anyone, and I do mean anyone can see the list archives.

Also, the messages they send to people for subscribe confirmation and such are quite confusing and a lot of people have trouble figuring out just how they should respond.

Finally, there are too many options an owner can or needs to set.

The whole experience definitely is not user friendly.

I'm not sure just why I keep that list on freelists, but it's a hassle to change, so I'm just leaving it, at least for the time being.

I think gw is running their lists in a responsible way and I'm glad they're the ones in charge of their lists.

Hi,
chip,

I'm glad GW Micro keeps their list in-house, especially since their
staff participates actively on it. For me, at least, Freelists is one
horrendous pain. My antivirus progfram flags more messages as false
positive threats than on all the other lists I'm on put together that
are not on that server. Why this is so, I don't know. I think I'm on two
lists there now. The owner of one rather high traffic list moved his
from thatg server. In my view, Freelists is a pain, and not truly modern
at all.

Chip, the problem with this is that we would no longer be able to
address issues with the lists reported by users nearly as easily. Also
we wouldn't be able to create our archives nearly as easily. Believe
it or not we aren't just being stubborn and we do have well thought
out reasons for keeping it internal.

because GW will not use a modern list service, such as freelists, but

well,
free!

Hi

I suppose I shouldn't send this to the list but why is it not possible to
change one's subscription to digest for example? I tried byt no response.
