Don, I just want to set one point clear: if GW used freelists, they would still be in charge of the list.
And, it's the lack of options (digest or vacation for instance) that some people are unhappy about; I'm also sure setting the options for a list, something only the owner needs to do, isn't anything GW can't manage. I have a list on freelists and one thing I don't like is that anyone, and I do mean anyone can see the list archives. Also, the messages they send to people for subscribe confirmation and such are quite confusing and a lot of people have trouble figuring out just how they should respond. Finally, there are too many options an owner can or needs to set. The whole experience definitely is not user friendly. I'm not sure just why I keep that list on freelists, but it's a hassle to change, so I'm just leaving it, at least for the time being. I think gw is running their lists in a responsible way and I'm glad they're the ones in charge of their lists.
