Is there a way to mark points on this strip perhaps with little raised dots? If not, how about some way to disable or cover that strip.

Thanks

Johnny

Hi. One thing you'll have to decide for yourself is how big and heavy a laptop you want. HP has had a history of making models with full keyboards which include the numpad on the right side. These are large laptops which can be bulky to carry around. I actually have an HP Pavilion Dv6-1247 which is one of these big laptops. The keyboard is very nice. It also has really good sound for a laptop. It's running 64-bit Vista but the Windows 7 upgrade is included. I don't know if this particular model is around now but the dv6 and dv7 series are similar machines. HP is not the only company making full keyboard laptops. Acer, Dell and Toshiba have also come out with models with full keyboards. I do like my HP. It seems to be well built. One nice feature they have is a button above the touchpad which turns it on and off. This is nice because you don't have to remember a key combination to do the job. Many newer models have a few controls which are touch sensitive. My HP has a strip of these above the function keys. I'm careful to keep my fingers off of them because there's no easy way to determine what you're touching along that strip.

One thing you will find with any machine is that there'll be a lot of stuff loaded at startup. This was true for the HP and my Acer netbook which I also like very much. Some useres have looked at Dell's Vostro 1720 which may also be a good idea because it's a business machine. My desktop is a Dell Vostro so it was far easier for me to pick a much less cluttered machine when I bought it. In any case, you'll find that there'll be people who love each brand and some who hate it. I've seen good things from HP, Dell, and IBM. There are a lot of nice machines out there so you should be able to find one that fits your needs.

Hello list,

What works best with WE?

Please be so kind as to let me know what you have decided on in a laptop. Please! I am not wishing to start any kind of debate, I'm mearly wanting to know what folks are personally settleing on in a laptop, not a netbook. Give me brand name and model number if you can. Specific additional specs like which processor, or how big of a hard drive you got is not important at this time. If you wish to tell me more, please save the list and write to me personally.

Thanks so much,

Happy New Year 2010 to one and all!

Blessings,
