but as I said, just get this utility (which may already be in your WE
profile directory because it comes with one of Jamal's scripts), place it
somewhere  where you can specify the path to it, and then place a shortcut
in your startup directory to it, using the parameters I mentioned in an
earlier email.  it will do just what you need, without having a script at
all.

I agree that this script would be useful.  I am a tad embarrassed to say
that at work I have had to call the IT people on one or two occasion over
the years because of no speech as I, or someone else accidentally muted the
computer.

I have to disagree; volume up does not always unmute; not on my vista system
anyway, and no, I don't think you see volume controls all that often except
on laptops.

How many computers these days come with keyboards that don't have audio
controls on them?  I can't remember the last time I ran into one.  Even if
you can't find mute, you can probably find volume up, which will un-mute.
