All I know is mine died, sat around for who knows how long until I heard about yanking the battery, and wala, it was back in business, good as new.

You would have to check the status on the Dectalk though since the battery may not be working anymore. You might be able to get a new battery built but, we are talking over at least 16 years old for the DecTalk synthesizer that is an express.
