Do you know where I might be able to get the manual in text format or is there really anything I need to know in there?

Once the battery is completely dead it will not run on AC power until the battery is removed. If it does, There is your DecTalk problem solved. You might want to search around for a DecTalk express if you want one. The battery was already bad the last time I used it and that was 7 or 8 years ago. I don’t even know why I kept it this long.. I’ve been thinking of buying a new one just havn’t done it yet. You would have to check the status on the Dectalk though since the battery may not be working anymore. You might be able to get a new battery built but, we are talking over at least 16 years old for the DecTalk synthesizer that is an express. I’ve got an old dectalk express but it hasn’t seen daylight in close to 10 years too.
