Hello Vic:
I have sometimes been angry with Window-Eyes and have made some not-so-good
comments on list. Be that as it may, I remain thankful for Window-Eyes
because it is a piece of software that has kept me somewhat substantially
gainfully employed.
I've tried using the demo copies of different versions of Jaws on the
Colorado State Web Portal that I MUST LOG INTO to file medical related
claims for the customers my company serves through the Medicaid program. I
can log on alright, locate the link I need to click on in order to begin
processing, but, when it comes to entering the needed data, Jaws FALLS FLAT
on its face. Not even the demo of version 13xxx build works on the Colorado
State Web Portal.
With Window-Eyes 7.5.1, there were a lot of hassles and on several
occasions, I had too many problems to grapple with. 7.5.2 seems to have
ironed out a few things, but I must say that Version 7.2 still installed on
one of the computers in my office shines through with flying colors!!
I had once upon atime installed NVDA and played with it. However, it is
unsuitable for my use at my retail store where I need to cobble together
several pieces of middleware software and peripherals to get things
accomplished.
At some point in time, I'd like to see GW Micro befriend a developer of a
Point of (POS) Sale software and join me and other small retail business
owners in convincing such a developer to write code that would make its
software offering virtually accessible out of the box. I realize that some
may say that there is such a software now--it is called Cash Manager! Cash
Manager works if all you do is invoicing. In my case, I have customers
walking through, throwing credit/debit cards at me and Cash Manager DOES NOT
have a way to automate the processing of these cards. I'd have to record
the card numbers, log on to a virtual terminal, enter the data, then do it
all over again in Cash Manager. I am proud of what Cash Manager's
developers have accomplished and do look forward to purchasing their
software at some point in time. However, until I can resolve the POS
related issues, I'll wait my turn.
I'll be willing to work with GW Micro in making recommendations of a POS
software developer that might consider taking the issue of accessibility
somewhat seriously. Perhaps when Version 8 is released and several bugs are
ironed out over a period of time, a discussion about POS software access
might be entertained by GW Micro.
Sincerely,
Olusegun
Denver, Colorado
