A lot of this stuff just doesn't work correctly, and no screen reader
manufacturer can keep up with all of the bad coding that people perpetrate
on web pages, and the assumptions that the web designers make.

But listen carefully.  Java and JavaScript are two entirely different
technologies.  On web pages, JavaScript is the most common and the most
problematic, because while you have the browser frozen in order to read its
contents, the JavaScript program assumes that the browser is free to change
things as you move focus from one area to another, even when you don't click
on any links or check any boxes.

Java is another whole ball of wax, which is currently not supported by
Window-Eyes unless its interface has been coded by means of the Standard
Widget Toolkit, which is not very commonly used.
