Exactly so. Not only that but talk back and NVDA are open sorce. This
means that when users or companys have issues with the screen reader they
can fix issues them selvs. This means that companys will no longer be
dependant on other companys like fs or gw micro to fix there problems for
them. Appel has led the way in mobile access to date. The reality is
they are not going to do so for much longer and appel is not going to when
the mobile war, and they are not going to when the accessibility war in
the long run either. The reasons for this are shown in history and are
beyond the scoap of this message. If you know your history of computing
how-ever you don't need me to point this out to you. The trends of history
repeating it self are clear.

One of the most interesting items of information I found in the first
article concerns the huge profit margin on hardware sales. It's no wonder
that Mr. Hamilton wanted to sell hardware when he became the CEO of FS.
Magnifiers and Braille displays will always have a market, but with the good
accessibility of Android and iOS devices, I suspect that the notetaker cash
cow may soon run dry.

Subject: Opinions Of A Former AT Software Engineer

Last night I ran across a couple of interesting articles written by a former
head of Software Engineering of a major assistive technology company. Since
Window-Eyes was mentioned in the articles in a historical context, I am
passing them along to the list.
