The ironic part is the government system always promote on hiring people
with disabilities yet they have the most rigid job duties with absolutely no
flexibility to these duties. It is much easier to work in the private
sector where they are often some flexibility and adjustments in the job
duties for people with disabilities. I have been in both sectors so I well
know and understand. If I was in the government system, I would have
great difficulty in handling database and reading materials fast enough to
keep abreast of what I need for my field, etc. They would not be flexible
with me and I was forced out on disability and so I change my careers and
have done well in the private sector and of course3, if it wasn't for these
screen readers, I'd not have been working this long.

Wow!

These articles were quite revealing, to put it mildly. It's sad to see that
the two main screen readers out there are, seemingly, sitting on their
back-sides, just coasting, while hundreds of blind persons are out there
unable to find employment, because these screen readers have not kept up.

Last night I ran across a couple of interesting articles written by a former
head of Software Engineering of a major assistive technology company. Since
Window-Eyes was mentioned in the articles in a historical context, I am
passing them along to the list.
