Hi Robin,

I'm never totally happy with any keyboard, sometimes because of cramped layouts, at others because there's no landmarks, as on my Microsoft wireless Comfort Desktop 5000 keyboard. But, at least my keyboard has a very reliable connection to the PC, even from another room, has good, quiet, response, slightly curved, and is pretty light; it is also bundled with a wireless mouse; the bundle has a single USB transceiver.

Regarding orienting yourself, you may wish to keep in mind that the CapsLock key is a second InsertKey for Window-Eyes, and, if you want to orient yourself, you can always press Insert-1 (the one to use is not the one on the NumPad). This puts you in KeyDescriber mode, where you can just try out keys without sending keystrokes to your apps and you may even remember them because they are being spoken to you.

HI all,
My fingers are getting very confused. I have a new work laptop, a plug in keyboard for it at work and at home, my home desktop and I"m in the market for a new home laptop. All 4 keyboards have different locations for the insert key, page up and down, home, end. etc. I use these keys so much for WE and standard navigation, but my muscle memory is not helping me hit the right keys. I've added little puff paint type dots to keyboards in the past, but I think those will hit the screen on laptops. I'm wondering if anyone else has any recommendations for adhesive or other labeling techniques for some of these important keys that aren't in standard places.

For my new home PC, I'm looking at Toshiba laptops right now because they seem to offer better spacing for the arrow keys and they have a 10-key pad built in, even on some 15 inch screen models. I'm not thrilled with my new HP work laptop where all the keys are so tightly packed together. Any other pros or cons anyone can offer on keyboard considerations by brand? I'm hesitant to even consider a laptop I haven't been able to touch first, for this reason.

Thanks in advance.

Robin
