Well, it's a very sighty thing they do, people with sight, I mean.
People who use their mouse (you know, it's that little box sitting next
to the keyboards), if they move the mouse around on the table it moves
around a little pointer which looks like an arrowhead. If they put the
mouse pointer on an icon or window or some other object, they can hold
down the left mouse button, move the mouse box on the table, which moves
the pointer, and when they let go of the left mouse button it drops the
object wherever you let it go; they call it dragging, since sighties can
even see the trails, shadowy outlines, of the object they're moving,
while they're moving them.
Okay, with Window-Eyes, let's say you have focused one of the icons on
the desktop, and you press Insert-Numpad-Plus to route the mouse pointer
to the icon (it's the same pointer as the sighties see). Well, how the
heck do you move the icon? You just press Insert-Numpad-Delete , and
either you will hear "Mark" or a dialog will appear. Actually, what
happens depends on where you are in the drag and drop sequence. So,
let's say Insert-Numpad-Delete causes only the word "Mark" to be
spoken. Well, this means you have done exactly what a sighty would have
done had they pressed and held the left mouse button down. Now, since
the sighty wants to move their mouse to where they want the icon to be
moved, you have to do the same. Just use any mouse movement keys you
like in order to get the mouse pointer where you want the icon to be
moved. Then, all you have to do is press Insert-Numpad-Delete, and the
dialog will pop up giving you the chance to Drop the icon where the
mouse pointer is, or you can tab to the mark button and press that
instead; pressing that instead cancels the move you had begun and marks
the current mouse pointer position as the start of a brand new drag and
drop procedure. Sorry my explanation is only for the Desktop layout
(although there are equivalent keystrokes for the Laptop layout); and
sorry, too, if my explanation doesn't quite do the trick.

determine which column is the one before the Read/Unread status
column. If you then move your mouse through the column headers by
means of the previous and next clip mouse keys, you can find the
header clip for the Read//Unread status; you have to find that header
in this way because that header is unnamed, unlike, for example,
From, Subject, Date, etc. Once you find the Read/Unread header clip,
use the mouse drag and drop key, Insert-Delete (in the Desktop
layout) to drag it where you want, which, as yu said, in front of the
left-most header.
