Hi,
I have moved my tb data from one machine to another by doing the following.
On computer 1.
1. Press windows-r and type %appdata% and press enter.
2. press T until you get to thunderbird and press control-c.
3. open an sd card, usb drive etc and press control-v to paste.
computer 2.
1. Open the sd card, usb drive where the thunderbird folder is you
copied in the previous steps.
2. move to the folder and press control-c to copy.
3. press windows-r and type %appdata% and press enter.
4. Press control-v to paste.
5. install thunderbird and use all defaults.

Also not necessary. I use Windows live mail, and have no issues. Others
are using Thunderbird with few or no issues. I know several folks who
have tried this hack, and have had unpleasant results. Proceed at your
own risk.
