In the days of backups, you can fairly easily recover from either screwup.
But the lack of preparedness in TB makes no sense on any level.

No matter what you do you'll be doing some work. The choice is to do work
that is supported or do work that may damage your operating system. If
you choose to use the hack you may do much more work in the long run and
that will be your fault. What part of "not supported" do you not
understand? There is work to be done to change email programs and get old
mail into the new one. I brought 29 OE folders into TB. Come on, you
learned OE and you can learn something else. Hacking a new os on a new
computer just makes no sense at all to me. If you do it roll with the
consequences.

I've heard that WLM has crashing with loss of email issue and TB won't

Also not necessary. I use Windows live mail, and have no issues. Others
are using Thunderbird with few or no issues. I know several folks who
have tried this hack, and have had unpleasant results. Proceed at your
own risk.
