it really depends on what you are looking for. you could skip windows 7 and
move to windows 8.1 which some say is good with window-eyes. I personally
like windows 7 and will wait until windows 9 comes out some time in April of
next year unless Microsoft changes there mind. One thing I tell people is to
make sure your computer can be upgraded to windows 7 there for eliminating
the need to buy a new computer. I have upgraded a 2006 desk top recently to
windows 7 home pro 64 bit with only 2 gb ram and 160 gb hard drive and it is
working better then when it had windows xp. this person is also using jaws
14 and has no problems. of course it is not running like the new machines
but it was cheaper for him to pay for a copy of windows 7 and upgrading the
ram. if you send me your specs off line I may be able to let you know what
you are looking at, but if you want to move on to a new computer then some
brands I like are dell, asus, acer, or a custom built computer

called a luggable, an HP Pavilion with a standard-size keyboard and numpad.
Since many of you have already purchased laptops since 2005 when I bought

to have to move into the real world of Windows 7 and MicroSoft something.
Any thoughts on that? I'm hearing that Windows 9 may be coming out soon?

I don't want to turn off the mouse pad as my sighted wife sometimes needs to
use the notebook. I've tried to keep my thumbs up, but have had the
notebook many months and still occasionally have a relapse. I guess I will
either have to cover the touchpad with a card or buy a wireless mouse. It
would be best if GW Micro would adjust Window-Eyes so that it doesn't turn
the touchpad back on once it has been turned off using the fn key. Thanks
