It is easy to brush the palms of your hands on the touchpad while typing or
resting between words.
Most of these touchpads have drivers written by a company called Synaptics.
Look for the Synaptics program in the system tray or the notification
chevron area. It will be a tabbed dialog box with many options, depending
on the particular hardware. You may be able to disable it in there without
needing to go to the BIOS, which would require sighted help.

So then... turn the mouse off in the Bios? Then get a USB mouse to use if
a sighted person needs it. Plug it in when needed, then unplug when done.

Even when one has their hands positioned correctly on the keyboard, some
mouse pads are very sensitive on notebooks and laptops. Also, when you
turn off mouse tracking, sometimes it can come back on when you reboot the
laptop.
