Love to know if you find something on this.  I'm on a Toshiba S75 laptop and 
the same thing is true.  I saw one thing somewhere on the apps or start screen 
that I thought might do the trick as it was called something like "function 
Keys", but I didn't seem to get a change.   For me, it also seems inconsistent, 
which is even stranger.  If I'm in IE 11, Alt F4 will close the program, but in 
Office that pulls up the projection options.

Hi All,

I am using an hp laptop with windows 8.1 and we beta 2.  Is there any way to 
make the function keys work without usihng the fn key?  When I am in the we 
manual and want to read the info I have to hit the fn key and f6.  Can this be
