Yes, but you will positively need sighted assistance, as this has to be changed from within the BIOS. That is, it has to be changed in the very basic of the computer itself, even before Windows - and the screen reader - is loading. For the exact change, and how to open the BIOS screen on your computer, please do a search on the net.

The only other workaround you have, is to use an external keyboard, like a USB keyboard. From there, the F-keys will work normally. Rather frustrating that the manufacturer makes this the default setting on their computers, something that numerous sighted people complain about as well. You will find a number of answers on the net, but they are going to tell you pretty much the same, I am afraid. Sorry for the troublesome news. Apparently, once you have the exact steps lined out and two eyes to help you, the fix is a quick and easy go. And it only has to be done this one time.
