You can go into the hotkeys in the WE control panel, and redefine the browse
mode selection key to be something you can reach from the home row (so it
doesn't have to be f8).  I have used capslock + semicolon.

Tghat's strange. As much trouble as I've had with ie8 and ie 9 on my vista32
machine, the F8 key has worked. I hate having to take my hands off the main
keyboard though, but it does work for me.

I completely agree. I never understood why this was implemented in the first
place when there was never a problem to begin with. You can always use the
arrow keys for selecting text no matter if it was in browse mode or not.
Either way would work. If it ain't broke, why fix it. Unless I'm missing
something I don't see any benefit this feature brings to Window-eyes. In
fact, judging from all the messages on the list, it causes way more
confusion than anything else.
