I selected text in Notepad and Word, and Window-Eyes beta 3 voiced the text
as I selected it. I used Shift down arrow and shift right and left arrow.
When I shift-down arrowed, WE spoke the selected line of text, followed by
the word selected. When I shift right arrowed, WE spoke the character,
followed by the word selected. When I shift left arrowed, WE spoke the
character, folowwed by the word unselected. Same thing with control shift
right and left arrow.

As far as speaking copy, cut, or paste. I thought that was a function of the
key label dictionary. In my case, in Word, I have the keyboard voice off, so
copy, cut, and paste are not spoken. But when I turn keyboard voice on, WE
does speak those commands.

I did just learn a valueable lesson about selecting text in IE 11 using the
F8 selection method. I went on the wikipedia web page and searched for
cessna 402. On the page somewhere is the following text:

All seats are easily removable so that the aircraft can be used in an
all-cargo configuration.

The first time I made my selection, I Control-right arrowed through the
sentence to the word "configuration." When I pasted the text, I got the
following:

All seats are easily removable so that the aircraft can be used in an
all-cargo c

I just learned that I have to finish up selecting text by right arrowing to
the period at the end of the sentence in order to get the whole sentence.
Just thought I'd mention that. Come to think of it, I believe Jeremy Curry
did the same thing in the guess what series dealing with the new Window-Eyes
browse mode. That stuff is easy to forget when you've been doing things a
certain way for years. <shrug>.

it might work in notepad. but not from a web page where i want to copy from
and paste into notepad. the f8 commands only work if the program you are
pasteing into also uses browse mode. notepad and wordpad are not one of
them.;
and the windows copy and paste commands work but there is no speech anymore
to tell you where you are.

The shift selection keys still work in Notepad with Window-Eyes nine. Try
them for yourselves, folks.

Window commands to work in all programs!

please, add back the option to use the normal windows copy and paste
commands with speech.
at least this has, and is still working. the f8 commands has never worked
for me.
i can press f8 at the beginning and end of the text i want and use copy to
clipboard till the cows comes home and it has never worked with my win7 64
bit computer.
right now i am just trying the f8 commands with notepad.
it will only paste the first line of text, if it even does that.

Subject: WE Beta 3 - Selecting text in XML Copy

I am using the free program XML Copy to edit XML and XML Schema files. When
selecting text (using the shift and arrow keys) the text being selected is
not spoken. This makes it difficult to select text.

I know the text is being selected since I have some vision and copy does
work.

System details:
Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit
ZoomText 10.0x
WE Beta 3 (same in Beta 2)

If this is a problem with the actual program, does anyone know of a better
smart XML editor?

Rick
