Darren,
WHenever I start Word, I get that message. Even after I type words, I still
get the message. If I then go into Script Manager and restart it, the hotkey
works as expected.
Hope this helps.

Oh clang...
I thought I'd ironed out all of that. Unfortunately it's been
extremely difficult to debug this script as I've had to override the
error handling routines to trap the possibility of there being no
document open when the key is pressed. Does manually stopping and
restarting the script from script manager solve the problem?
I'll try out the GWToolkit error object instead and see how we get on.
Thanks,
Darren

Greetings,
I just posted a script called "Microsoft Word Count". Press a key and
hear the number of words in the document you have open in Word. If you
have several, Window-Eyes will tell you the total for the document
you're currently working on. If there is not a document open when you
press the hotkey, Window-Eyes will fail gracefully.
By default, the speak Word Count hotkey is Control-Windows-W. You can
configure this to your liking from the help and options button in
Script Manager.
To read more and download this script, visit:

If you do download it, let me know how you get on.
Enjoy!
