If you and I were to collaborate on something, would you give me the login credentials to the GW Micro AC account?
No.
If not, would we set up a new account for our joint efforts?
Yes.
If so, than does every combination of app authors require a separate account?
I suppose that depends on the project and the people collaborating.
Isn't this a bit clunky?
Is it? I treat each app almost as a separate program. If I involved myself in the development of several open source apps, for example, would I expect the same login criteria and experience for each of them?

What happens to orphanned apps with the current model?
What happens to orphaned apps on SourceForge? If we're asked, we'll pull the app.

I guess it comes down to whether or not you want to push AC's evolution more the direction of Sourceforge or more like the App Store.
We don't want to be SourceForge. There's already a SourceForge. It's called SourceForge. App Central's goal is to get apps into customers' hands. We don't use AC to develop here in the office; it's not a development environment. We use it to distribute. There are already numerous source/project content management systems available for that (I hear SourceForge is good).

I think you serve the blind community best by going with the former, especially since AC lacks the crucial App Store element of being a commercial hub, but that's just my opinion.
It only lacks that because no one has decided to sell an app. <grin>
