Hi Ron,
Yes, when adjusting the service object over and attempt to use it, an
automation error happens. The ConnectEvent recognizes the 2 parameters and
demands them. There is just no call to OnObjectReady, in other words the
event coming back from the RegistryEvent is not being passed back.
Yet, the same hook-up using a standard .vbs with the exact same format
the event is passed back and acted upon.
Note, this event is passed back in XP and the ConnectEvent does work
perfectly.
So, in the C writing there seems to be something missing that the WE
scripting is not picking up or requesting from a Windows system and most
likely in the Vista as well since I can not test it I don't know.
There could be a simple fix on this when looking at the code.
I am only using this as a flag for changes in the Uninstall folder but
it is not a big issue, just a note on what is not working.
I have not tried setting some flags, that the Async says it already has
built in but may not be there inside Windows 7 WMI settings. I will probably
experiment until exhaustion to find out the cause.
So, on my program in lines 320 to 380 are all the stuff including one
that is not being used, the TreeChange...

That's not it, Chip. When those callbacks (and the ones from Internet
Explorer) fail, you get an "Object does not support Automation" error
from the ConnectEvent or ConnectObject call.
