This is standard Windows behavior. You can't use character shortcuts that don't exist in the control's text. You can have multiple shortcuts with the same letter, but that's not recommended as it leads to confusion.

Matt: I think we maybe at cross purposes here. I want to insert the new line character via the simple Simon GUI dialog, and not from within the xml code.

In that case, trying inserting a vbCrlf character.
