Yeti's suggestion to use a raw data import worked, though it's a lot
more work and chances to mess up than just moving native files around.

To help with fixing up general importing -

We're taking data off of a Dimension 3000 and a Dimension 3100, using
Nanoscope version 5.31r1 on the 3000 and some variant of version 6 on
the 3100. Both are windows boxes.

My gwyddion version, incidentally, is 2.12_0+darwin_9, which is up to
date, at least on macports.
My colleague using Windows can't open them either, and he just
downloaded Gwyddion.

I don't know what has changed. The software always had a chance of
producing unreadable files, but it gradually went from nearly never to
always over the course of about two years.

I don't get an error message - it simply doesn't recognize the files
as something it can open. I can't even select them.

Should I send some straight to you, with the gwyddion equivalent
alongside for comparison?

Thanks,
Luke
