Drawers didn't get closed up in the crutch seam until very late into the 19th if not into the 20th century.

So far, we have found one pair of split drawers in the vast attic-sized pile... Really! That's interesting. I've seen dozens.... but they are all kinda early. The seam gets sewn up I'd say (guess really) by the 1860's.... and by the 1880's you have combos... a bodice part and the legs part in one. But I'm no expert on this subject. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yup -- one pair, and clearly worn by a child (and very heavily mended). This family kept everything, so... why no drawers from this period? Hmm... -Dede _______________________________________________ h-costume mailing list h-costume@mail.indra.com http://mail.indra.com/mailman/listinfo/h-costume _______________________________________________ h-costume mailing list h-costume@mail.indra.com http://mail.indra.com/mailman/listinfo/h-costume
