1298_20071213.patch is ready for review. It passed test-core in my machine.
The patch requires update once HADOOP-2381 is committed.
Note that since RPC is now providing user information (see HADOOP-2184). Some
NameNode methods implementing ClientProtocol cannot be called directly from a
NameNode object. Such methods must be called through RPC. Otherwise, user
information is missing and it will result to a RuntimeException. (This comment
only related to the unit tests. Previously, some unit tests get a NameNode
object from MiniDFSCluster and call the method directly. I have changed all
related tests, so that they use RPC.)
