I forgot I have a valid CX OFfice license.
I am running SuSE at home. I'll get the current copy of CPRS and try to get it running.

Well, I did all of the things I said I would and then some to no avail. I have a document put together with all of the wine messages and annotations about what is happening when those messages appear. If any of you have any knowledge of wine or are just curious, send me an email and I will gladly send you the document in any format you would like. I also have the messages captured when everything seemed to be working well for comparison if you would like that.
What a letdown. :-(

Well, there is lots of egg on my face this AM. In the wee hours this AM I was working on attempting a connection with a different machine and when I came back to my laptop and ran CPRSChart.exe yet another time, the lab and reports tab were showing the error that an "Ole control activation failed" as soon as the tab was clicked. When I first connected, we even tried graphing lab data and it worked. I did not work with the reports tab more than to just bring it up at that time.
So, if any of you have any ideas about what might have changed and what I should try, I am all ears. I have rebooted to no avail. I will try a fresh copy of CPRS and reinstalling wine later this AM, but I hope there will be some other things for me to try that all of you can think of by the time I get back to my computer.

I just want to add a few specifics about how this was done so that it can be reproduced. We used Debian Sarge upgraded just before we tried this, the VA Demo on GTM and CPRSChart.exe version 1.0.23.15 with the 3-10-2005 version of Wine. I ran it with the following command:
wine /home/nancy/CPRSChart.exe s=127.0.0.1 p=9200
The only thing I have to do is hit OK to allow it to install the Mozilla plugin when it asks.
As Joseph said, we have been waiting for this and hoping for this for a long time and I think it is a major breakthrough. This translates to a potential for major savings for developing countries as well as State side users and I want to send the Wine developers, the VA programmers, the Linux, GT.M, Mozilla and so many other folks involved a huge THANK YOU for making this possible!

Nancy and I gave CPRS under Wine (latest Wine release on a Debian client) a try with her Linux based VistA server (it's running the VA Demo software) and it worked without a hitch....in fact it ran better on her Debian machine than my Mandrake client. There is something wacky about Wine on Mandrake 10.1.....it seems that some config files or libraries are missing in the Mandrake Wine RPM. They get installed with Crossover Office but not with the Wine RPM. Good old Debian apt makes sure all the stray bits and pieces get installed....I think I am becoming a Debian convert. As an aside I have noticed that the Mandrake distribution while an excellent product has become much more of a pain for both finding and installing packages that are not on the CD's and many packages are dropped entirely or partially too boot from version to version.
So it looks like the Wine folks without knowing it have done the work over the past few releases to make CPRS viable on Linux....this is indeed a milestone and shows the real power of open source communities at work....in this case it was simply the act of making Wine a better product that made it possible to run CPRS with it.
